Missing Money

Did you know there are billions of dollars in missing money just waiting to be claimed? missing money

It's true!

Every year billions of dollars are turned over to the states unclaimed money departments because the companies that are holding the money cannot locate the owners.

You may ask, how can that happen?

Well there are a wide variety of ways for money to go missing.

Some examples of missing money are:

  • Savings Account
  • Checking Accounts
  • Uncashed Checks
  • Telephone/Utility Deposits
  • Rental Security Deposits
  • Wages
  • Insurance Benefits/Policies
  • Safe Deposit Box Contents
  • Mortgage Insurance Refunds
  • Stocks and Dividends
  • Mutual Funds
  • Certificates of Deposit
  • Trust Funds
  • Estate Proceeds

The reasons this money goes missing is endless.

You may have moved into a house or an apartment, put a deposit down with the electric company and then moved a couple of years later, forgetting about the deposit.

If there was no forwarding address or you got married and changed your name, it's possible the electric company is left holding your deposit.

By law, they are required to turn the money over to the states unclaimed money department.

That is just one example, but I could go on and on. My stepson worked at Taco Bell and didn't collect a final check.

My father had money from an insurance policy from 1934! More about that here

One of the most popular sitcoms in history even touched on the subject. You can watch a brief video in Funny Money.

Every state has an unclaimed money department responsible for holding and sometimes returning this money.

I say sometimes because there is so much money being held, they cannot contact everyone, so they leave it up to you to look for yourself.

If you want to check to see if you have any money being held for you, click on any state on the map below to access the unclaimed money department for that state

Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Florida Georgia Hawaii Idaho Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Louisiana Maine Michigan Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Montana Nebraska Nevada New York North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Washington Wyoming Michigan Wisconsin West Virginia West Virginia Vermont Vermont New Hampshire New Hampshire Virginia Massachusetts Massachusetts Maryland Maryland Rhode Island Rhode Island Connecticut Connecticut Delaware Delaware District of Columbia New Jersey New Jersey New Mexico

Be sure to check every state you have lived or worked in. If you had a maiden and married name, be sure to check those as well.

It's not just the states that are holding unclaimed money. There are several federal agencies holding unclaimed money, including the Internal Revenue Service

Missing Money Do you remember how I said the unclaimed money departments "sometimes" return this missing money?

Well, the reason I said "sometimes" is because there is just so much money being held for so many people is it just impossible for them to contact everyone!

I mean, there are literally millions of accounts for millions of people!

Did you know that an excellent opportunity has developed because of this?

There are people called "unclaimed money finders" that unclaimed money and then contact the rightful owners and help return it.

In exchange for helping return this money, unclaimed money finders get paid a commission for the amount of money returned.

Please take a look at the opportunity if you would be interested in this easy business.
