Kansas Missouri Have Millions In Unclaimed Money
Breaking news! Kansas Missouri have millions in unclaimed money!
Yes, we know that. It seems that every once in a while the news decides to run this story that they have run many times before like it is new news. I guess it's possible they need to fill time, but it is also good to get it out there once in a while just to remind people that may have forgotten about unclaimed money.
The following news item below was run May 14th, 2010.

Latest news reports indicate that there are vast sums of unclaimed money, $33 billion to be specific, sitting in the coffers of government agencies and banks. While this may seem like some fantasy get-rich-quick advertisement, and it certainly is not, it may be worth checking out. Oh yeah!
According to CBS News Business and Economics Correspondent Rebecca Jarvis, the missing funds are not tax related. They can comprise of forgotten savings accounts, stock investments, annuities, inheritances, lost money in the postal system, or even overpaid bills.Due to federal consumer protection programs, each state is required by federal law to keep track of all unclaimed money. $33 billion in missing funds gives you a decent chance of finding something, especially if you are not fastidious with financial planning. Jarvis says, “it’s totally free to search and it takes no time at all.”
The search can be done online via www.unclaimed.org or www.missingmoney.com. (I'll throw in
unclaimed-money-finder.net).
Each has a free service for searching state databases. Simply type in your name, or a family member’s name for possible inheritance claims, and the search is free. If you do manage to strike gold, filing a claim sounds relatively simple as well.
“You’ll need to file a claim with the state government, including your personal information and Social Security number. This can usually be done online. And you’ll need to provide identification. It should take a few weeks to receive the money,” she says.
Once again, most people do not know they have unclaimed money being held for them (this is me speaking now, not the news). This is where an excellent opportunity to become and unclaimed money finder comes in to play. All you need to do is call these people, let them know they have unclaimed money, and help them to recover it. Then you charge a percentage of the amount recovered.
