$4.7M In Ariz Tax Money May Go Unclaimed
PHOENIX -- You wouldn't think taxpayers would forget about their Arizona Unclaimed Tax Money, but the Internal Revenue Service believes more than 3,000 people in the state may have done just that.

The agency released figures Wednesday showing $4,722,912 in unclaimed tax refunds for Arizonans.
"We want to make sure taxpayers get the money owed to them," said IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman.3,194 people have unclaimed IRS tax money in Arizona. The average undelivered refund amount is $1,479, according to IRS figures compiled Nov. 16. Getting that money may be as simple as updating an address.

on the IRS website. "If you think you are missing a refund, the sooner you update your address information, the quicker you can get your money," said Shulman.

Nationally, the IRS is holding $164.6 million in undelivered refunds. A total of 111,893 taxpayers are due one or more refund checks that could not be delivered because of mailing address errors.
